Halloween Movies - Disney Style

This year we're going to miss Mickey's Not So Scarey Halloween Party (MNSSHP) at Walt Disney World. So to keep the Disney spirit alive in our house we plan on watching some of Disney's Halloween movies. (I'm not into all the movies like Friday the 13th or Nightmare on Elm Street.) It's great that we can sit down as a family and enjoy the Disney "scarey" movies together without having to worry about nightmares.
Here's a list of a few of our favorites:
Halloweentown and it's sequels.
Twitches and Twitches II
The Haunted Mansion - One of our faves. This is always a must on the airplane when we're flying to WDW.
Hocus Pocus - Our all time favorite!
and if you can find it Disney's The Legend of Sleepy Hollow

So pop some popcorn. Turn the lights out and curl up with your family and enjoy the movies.

Free Admission - Can it be?

Disney wants to give you a gift for your birthday in 2009. You may choose to claim free admission for one day to one of their theme parks in either Florida or California.
You can visit http://disneyparks.disney.go.com/disneyparks/en_US/WhatWillYouCelebrate/index?name=FreeOnYourBirthdayPage to register and get all the details. Now that is one great birthday gift if you happen to be in the area on your birthday! If you already have passes there are other gifts to choose from.

Walt Disney World Dining - Can I really eat all of that?

I am a foodie! There is no better place to meet all of your dining needs than Walt Disney World. This place is a food connoisseurs dream. We plan all of our days at Disney around the restaurants that we are able to get into. I of course plan around which days/parks have the extra magic hours and work from there. For example, the night of the Pirate and Princess Party, we made reservations at the California Grill. We made our reservations when they first opened and after we were finished we took the monorail to the Magic Kingdom. (We could have also walked since Magic Kingdom is beside the Contemporary Resort.)

We're very blessed in the fact that our daughter loves almost any dish you give her. We don't have to be worried if the restaurant does not serve chicken nuggets. However, Disney makes everyones dreams possible so you can bet that even the nicest restaurants have kid friendly choices. At the California Grill our daughter ordered the salmon. She couldn't have been happier. Walt Disney World is a wonderful place to introduce children to new dishes. If you're worried they won't like it, stick to ordering them something you know they would like but let them try some of your dish.

My daughter loves telling people she loves snails. She tried them at the Food and Wine festival at Epcot when she was four.

From hot dogs, to funnel cakes, to Filet Mignon, to sushi . . . Walt Disney World really does have it all.

My First Blog Entry or How it all got Started!

I've been told by several people I should start a blog about Walt Disney World so . . . here's to the first post. Our family (just DH and I at the time) fell in love with Walt Disney World back in the summer of 2000. He'd actually went in the 70's but that really can't compare to today's Disney. (That and the fact that he was only a couple of years old.) We were celebrating our fourth anniversary and I have to say that besides the honeymoon it was the best vacation in four years that we had taken. I didn't know at the time about all the helpful websites that were/are available to the Disney novices and experts. We didn't make another trip to the "World" until our daughter was 2 years old. (2003)

If I had known then what I know now, I would have taken her there when she was much younger. Many people wait for just the right moment to take their kids to Disney. Many want them to remember it and feel that a child younger than 2 would not enjoy the trip. Each child is different and fianances are also a major factor. If you can afford it and you feel that your kids are ready, I can't see any reason not to go. Our daughter loved the trip. Traveling was not a problem and she loved the characters. (Many at this age are terrified of the characters.) She is now 7 years old with seven trips to the World under her belt. She loves helping mommy plan. Planning your vacation together keeps everyone happy.
